Lançada em 1979 LIVE OF BRIAN, segundo filme wado grupo de comediantes britânicos Monty Python ainda hoje é a única comédia bíblica de toda a historia do cinema. Trata-se na verdade de uma inteligente e divertida critica a difusão do messianismo cristão e uma sátira mordaz as clássicas adaptações wollywoodianas de temas bíblicos.
Brian Cohen ( Gaham Chapman) é um relutante candidato a messias na Judéia do ano 33 DC, onde o Império Romano procura manter alguma ordem em meio ao caos, miséria, movimentos messiânicos, profetas delirantes e atos de crucificação.
Para mim, particularmente, o melhor momento desta singular e hilariante comedia é seu final, ou mais precisamente a crucificação de Brian após uma série de reveses e peripécias. O tema musical que acompanha a cena é certamente uma das mais preciosas amostras do humor corrosivo e irreverente do Monty Python e, porque não dizer, uma verdadeira filosofia de vida...
